Culture is given a high priority, and direct subsidies are granted to a long range of cultural associations and institutions.
A cultural collaboration has been established, which functions as an umbrella organisation for the cultural players.
As part of a special initiative, a long range of cultural activities have been arranged in the Municipality of Norddjurs in collaboration with associations, enthusiasts, village halls etc.
The cultural events have been gathered into three culture projects, which we are calling
• Culture rocket (February - April)
• Village halls coming to life (September - November)
The events are described in home delivered folders and are advertised in the weekly press and on the municipality’s website.
In addition to the offers at Norddjurs Kulturskole and the offers made by child and young people’s associations (sports, scouts etc.), the Municipality of Norddjurs offers a number of cultural activities for children:
- Children’s theatre
- Children’s cinema
- Summer holiday activities
- Choir rally
- Children’s culture week
The cultural centres in the municipality constitute the venue for cultural offers and gatherings throughout the municipality. Kulturhuset Pavillonen is the flagship among the cultural centres, and Baunhøj Mølle stands out as an exhibition centre for art of high quality.
Kattegatcentret in Grenaa and the manor house museum Gammel Estrup at Auning are also among the flagships in the Municipality of Norddjurs.
Museum Østjylland, a merger between the local history museums in the Municipality of Randers, the Municipality of Syddjurs and the Municipality of Norddjurs, is definitely also worth a visit.
