Pregnancy and birth

Information about health care services.

If you become pregnant, you can be examined by your own GP/family doctor or a midwife several times in the course of your pregnancy to check that you and your child are healthy.

Health care service

Once you have given birth, you will be visited by the health care service which is staffed by specially trained nurses and health visitors. They visit infants at home to provide help and advice for the family.

Health care service’s telephone service

The health care service’s telephone service offers advice and guidance when families with young children are in doubt about something and their own health visitor is not on duty.

You can receive advice and guidance from an experienced health visitor about breast feeding and infant formulae, food and mealtimes as well as fever and malaise
