Housing

In addition to making Aarhus a vibrant city, the more than 40,000 students also make their mark on the housing market.

Many new students come to Aarhus every year. Consequently, it can be hard to find accommodation in the city. However, by starting to look for somewhere to live as early as possible, it improves your chances considerably.

You can look for accommodation at Student Housing Aarhus, which offers rooms in halls of residence and flats. The alternative is try your luck in the private housing market. However, here it can be difficult to get a clear overview of the various options.

Once you have found somewhere to live in Denmark, you should be aware that your lease must comply with the Danish Rent Act for it to be valid and that you will often need to pay three months’ rent in advance in addition to a deposit corresponding to three months’ rent.

If you encounter problems with your landlord or other problems in relation to your accommodation, you can join a tenants’ organisation which can help you.
