Change of address

When moving to the City of Aarhus or moving from one address to another within the municipality, you must report the change of address to Citizens’ Services.

You should not notify the municipality of your change of address more than one month before moving.

 

Moving to Denmark

  • You must live in Denmark before you can report your move
  • You must notify the municipality of your move by visiting Citizens’ Services in person at the town hall within five days of moving to Denmark
  • If you are a non-Nordic citizen and are moving from a non-Nordic, non-EU/non-EEA state or Switzerland, you must have a residence permit if you are going to stay for more than three months
  • If you are a non-Nordic citizen, you must bring your residence permit when reporting your move
  • If you are moving from a Nordic country, an EU/EEA state or Switzerland, you should only report a change of address if you are going to stay for more than six months 

 

Leaving Denmark

You must deregister from the national register if you move abroad If you are moving abroad for less than six months, you can retain your registered address unless you rent out or lend your house or flat If staying abroad for longer than six months, you must always deregister from the national register.


 

Moving within Denmark

You must notify the municipality to which you are moving within five days of moving. Remember to report electricity, water and district heating meter readings when moving.

 

If you or your family have to move from an address in Aarhus to another address in Denmark, you need to contact Citizens’ Services to report the move.

 

If you are moving to Denmark

You must contact Citizens’ Services in person. Please note the following rules which apply if you are moving to Denmark.
